Microsoft Windows XP - End Of Life

Posted on 3rd April 2014 by Kathryn Murran

As you may have heard, Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on 8th April 2014. This means that Microsoft will no longer be releasing software updates and vulnerability fixes for this operating system.

Computers running Windows XP will continue to function, but they will be more open to attacks from malicious software such as Ransomware, Trojans and Viruses.

Shortcuts recommend that if you are running Windows XP that you upgrade as soon as possible to either Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8 Professional or Windows 8.1 Professional as these operating systems have many years of support ahead of them.

We are happy to provide advice on the best way to do this, or supply you with a brand new, professional business grade PC. If you choose to do the upgrade yourself, please contact our Business Development team on 0161 972 4900, option 2, or email BDUK@shortcuts.co.uk so that we can ensure your PC will meet the requirements of Shortcuts and any other connected hardware that you may already have.
