WHAT WILL 2014 BRING FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

For many of us January marks the start of a new chapter; a chance to reflect on our achievements over the past year, and set some new goals for the next twelve months.

Alongside the launch of our new website & blog, the Shortcuts team are looking forward to sharing business tips and advice, showcasing some of our clients’ achievements, and keep you updated on industry news throughout 2014.

To kick things off this year, we thought we’d ask our clients what their goals are for. From industry awards to recruitment and expansion, here’s what they have in store for 2014.

 

HALO HAIR AND BEAUTY, HARROGATE

“2014 is going to be a great year, as the salon continues to thrive. I’m lucky enough to have a fantastic team in place and I’d like to recruit more talented stylists to help grow the business in the months ahead. One of my ideas is to introduce a barber in the salon to increase men’s services, an area which is neglected in our region.

Education is my passion – we’ve had some of the UK’s leading hairdressers into the salon to run inspirational workshops and I want that to continue, ensuring the team is constantly learning and never standing still.

Halo’s Art Team is very new – we did our first shoot before Christmas –I’d like to see our work for shows and shoots grow this year while personally I’d like to continue with my seminars, shoots and shows, including Pro Hair Life and Salon International.

My entry has already gone in for the 2014 Hair Awards – my focus later in the year, for both myself and my team, will be the British Hairdressing Awards and Wella Trend Vision.

PKAI HAIR IN PETERBOROUGH

“We have lots planned for 2014 that we are excited about. We are going to be launching a new Loyalty Scheme for our clients. This scheme has been designed to improve our client visit frequency and retail sales for our two sites in Peterborough.

We are also installing brand new phone systems which we’re hoping will help the flow at reception and help us by delivering targeted marketing messages. These messages will mainly be used to promote our online booking and gift cards, and be played to our clients when they call the salon.  

Furthermore, 2014 will see us back up these changes with an action packed education diary for the team to ensure we are delivering on every level in the salons.”

FOX HAIR DESIGN, BARWELL & HINCKLEY

"In 2014 we will be working to implement a new set of KPIs for staff, focusing on 5 key areas. We’re going to be working hard to improve our figures in retail, our rebook numbers as well as hoping to increase our revenue from each client’s visit.

We’re also driven to improve our client retention figures. By focusing on our clients’ guest experience, and engaging with them on each visit we hope they’ll be happy to recommend us to more people, increase the number of visits they make to the salon through the year and increase their average spend with us as well. With our Shortcuts system in place, we can easily pull detailed reports with client figures together without having to spend hours gathering all the information we need manually. This will mean we can keep a close eye on our progress through the next 12 months."

THE CHAPEL, TUNBRIDGE WELLS, ISLINGTON & SEVENOAKS

"2014 is going to be amazing for us! We have just moved to a huge new head office, which includes 6 offices, a boardroom, creative breakout space as well as a photo and video studio.

We have just launched our newly completed social friendly new website www.thechapel.co.uk and we will be fine tuning and investing in technology to take us forward into the future.

Starting in 2014 we will be expanding with plans to open a further 20 salons in the next 10 years, so 2014 marks the start of an exciting future for us."

GARY INGHAM LIFESTYLE SALON & SPA, LONDON

"One of the things we are really hoping to achieve in 2014 is to optimise the way we work with our Shortcuts system. We're a growing business, so it's often difficult to find the time to sit down and take stock, and like a lot of salons we mostly end up using our system for the basics: booking, stock ordering, email marketing, and point of sale, but there are lots of features we've yet to fully make use of!

This will be a focus for the months ahead, to make the most of time saving features such as managing our payroll and staff attendance. We're also going to make sure our staff focus their attention on client data collection; especially email addresses. This will mean we can market to more effectively to our client base this year. 2014 here we come!"

 

Westrow, Yorkshire

"Keeping one-step ahead in 2014, Westrow has collaborated with two local businesses. Harrogate-based food hall Weetons now offers a bespoke Westrow online order and delivery service to each of Westrow’s eight salons, while pop-up evenings are taking places at venues including Gaucho, where stylists from Westrow’s city centre salons will showcase their skills.

2014 is also the year of technology for Westrow. A team of Tweeters and Facebook aficionados will keep its fans informed of everything that’s happening with the brand and it’s newly launched Academy. Westrow is also in the process of putting the finishing touches to a new website. Watch this space!"
