In just ten days the Shèk Hair Group team from St Kilda managed to organise and win the Eco Designers’ Challenge. What a feat to pull off... models, clothes, music... everything.

A call came from the president of the IHS to Peter Moore, Shèk’s owner, saying a number of entrants had pulled out and she had seen their show for American Crew and thought they would have a great entry. Shèk almost declined as there was not enough time, but they had just finished a photo shoot so already had the models.

After a quick staff meeting, the Shèk team decided they could do it and do it well, so they collected everything they needed: a choreographer, music, clothes, models and went for it.

Peter said “Everyone worked really hard and rehearsed in the short time we had to put it together. To win was a credit to everyone involved because we had some great salons competing. This was our first show for IHS and we have only been open two years.

“Our theme was Cameo. Hair stylists are like fashion designers except our raw material is different. We wanted to display the diversity of what can be achieved and expressed using both fashion and hair.”

And from these pictures it’s easy to see why they won!
