Problem\Question: When trying to start up the Shortcuts application, a message box appears upon start up "License Server Could Not Be Contacted"
Action\Resolution:
Solution 1: Ensure the License Server is running. If on a network ensure the license server is running on the Server computer. If not you may manually start up the license server by doing the following: double click on My Computer - Local Disk (C) - Shortcuts - double click on "LicenseServer.exe". (OR restart all computers on the network).
Solution 2: If the License Server does not start up after restarting the computer(s), ensure there is a entry for the License Server in the Windows Registry, for more information please see article "License Server Not Starting Up In Shortcuts 2003"
Solution 3: License Server is bound to broadcast on 192.168.0.*. Ensure all computers utilize this IP range for the License Server to be contacted by all workstation clients. (See article on Setting up a Network)
Solution 4: Make sure the order of the connections in the network setup has the local network first in the order. Right mouse click on "My Network Places" select "Properties" - "Advanced" - "Advanced Settings". Eg you may notice that BigPond ADSL network connection is above Shortcuts network. Change the order and restart all computers on the network.
