2017 wrapped up by familiar faces

2017 wrapped up by familiar faces

As 2017 draws to a close, we wanted to shine a light on a few familiar faces here at Shortcuts. They’re the gems that help you through thick and thin, offer advice for your salon, spa, or barber business when you need it most, and teach you all the ins and outs of Shortcuts. So grab a cuppa, settle in, and get to know our Shorties’ ride or die 2017 moments, and what they have their sights set on in 2018.

Rebekah – Customer Care Specialist

There was a lot I loved about 2017. Skydiving in Byron Bay was amazing, but I think my favourite thing was being selected to travel to the Shortcuts US office and spend a month with the team over there. It was fun to get to know such a tight knit team, and share knowledge with the other Customer Care Specialists. It felt great to be chosen, and made me feel very valued. I’m more excited than ever to be working for Shortcuts!

I’m hoping 2018 is going to be just as good – I already have a few little plans, like moving house, getting my own little dog, and spending more time outdoors. I’d really like to brush up on my bike riding skills and ride along the river – it just seems like such a relaxing day out.

Maria – Shortcuts Coach

2017 was a big year for me! I got married for one, but I also became a fully accredited Shortcuts Coach. I started at Shortcuts back in January and have learnt so much since then. I used Shortcuts in my previous job working in a salon, and there are so many little tips and tricks that I wish I’d known! It feels great to show businesses all of these tips, and how to use their system to its full potential.

2018 for me will be all about learning and learning some more. I’ll also hopefully have a chance to visit the South Island of New Zealand.

If you want to refresh your knowledge or learn a new thing or two, the new, searchable Shortcuts Learning Centre is a great place to check out.

James – Digital Marketing Assistant

Look, in a lot of ways 2017 was a rough year – a lot of horrible things happened in the world. But what I did love about 2017 was that despite this people gathered together and rallied for things that were truly important. We bonded over a need for common good. It was so nice to see people come together like that.

My New Year’s resolution is to focus on mindfulness. I’m using an app called Insight Timer to practice some meditation at the moment, and while I love the instant calming benefits, I’m really looking forward to all the positive flow-on effects that practicing regular mindfulness can bring. Just feeling more centred and aware – it’s so good for you long term.

Huon – Specialist Support Centre Manager

I had the opportunity to travel to LA this year for the Shortcuts Support Summit where I gathered with other Support Specialists to share knowledge, bounce ideas, and fine-tune processes. It was a great opportunity to meet some of my global peers and collaborate. It was such a valuable trip – a hectic four days for sure, but so worth it.

My absolute highlight of 2017 has to be my trip to Scotland – I really couldn’t recommend it more. If I can, I’d go back next year and visit Wales and Ireland as well. The scenery and history is just nothing like we have in Australia. It’s so beautiful, everything you see in the movies just doesn’t do it justice. Scotland, I’m coming for you in 2018!

Krystle – Queensland Sales Manager

Joining Shortcuts in 2017 and becoming a part of the team was definitely one of my highlights this year. I also had the opportunity to travel to the US and visit my best friend who I haven’t seen for two years. So yeah, it was a year of change and adventure for me!

My New Year’s resolution is to save more, and spend less. Pretty wise words, I think. I’m also hoping to travel back to the States to see my best friend and her new little bub, Jude. I think 2018 overall is going to be great year.
